In this Insight we interview Laura on the sector’s key goal in 2016 (member engagement) and how this is being optimised at the Royal College of Phsyicians (RCP).
At the start of the interview Laura was asked if an evolutionary or a revolutionary approach was required and she firmly advises that she is in ‘revolution camp’ based on recent developments at the RCP.
She explains how the organisation’s new five year strategy incorporates a strong member engagement focus and that a complete organisational restructure was required in order to ensure member engagement was at the heart of the organisations plans.
Laura refers to the importance of relationship building and the solid investment in regional and special interest actity made by the organisation, as well as the focus on bringing the membership and regional (including International) functions together to enable a more joined-up and collaborative approach was enabled.
She also outlines how the MemberWise Network provides her with a professional network and community that ensures that she is always aware of and part of the latest conversations in the association and membership organsiation sector.
