MemberWise Mentoring Programme

In June MemberWise launched the first ever formalised mentoring programme for Membership and Association Professionals. The programme was delivered in response to demand and a requirement for professionals to gain access to help/support.

The launch of the online programme was fast-tracked in response to the COVID-19 situation, so 6 months on we thought it would be interesting to review progress so far.

Lets take a look at some key figures:

- 18 Mentors/Mentees have been matched
- 42 Mentors are available/searchable
- 29 Mentees are searching for a Mentor

We think this is a great achievement and look forward to feedback from Mentees/Mentors who complete the programme.

Mentees/Mentors represent a diverse range of member facing roles (at all levels) and organisations that range in size, scale and scope (including The National Trust, The Royal Society of Chemistry, The British Horse Society, CIPD and the Chartered College of Teaching).

MemberWise Network Founder, Rich Gott, caught up with the Dr Robert Parker, CEO of the Royal Society of Chemistry, to ask why he is participating as a MemberWise Mentor:

“As Chief Executive of the Royal Society of Chemistry I know first-hand how important it is for the next generation of association leaders to have the right knowledge, skills and insight. Mentoring is a great way to ‘tool up’ at pace and I am pleased to participate as a MemberWise Network Mentor.”

Robert is one of a growing number of experienced senior management team members/CEOs offering their time to mentor the next generation of association leaders.

MemberWise Network Chair, Rich Gott commented:

“A larger than expected cohort of experienced association senior management team members are coming forward to share their knowledge/insight via the Mentoring Program. This has completely exceeded all our expectations. As has the number of new senior management team members coming forward to be mentored. I wish I had access to this 20 years ago! I look forward to catching up with our first cohort of mentors/mentees next year to see how we can develop this popular program further.”

If you wish to give back to the next generation of Membership and Association Professionals as a Mentor or if you are looking for support as a potential Mentee you can access the programme (in partnership with Higher Logic) free of charge and via the MemberWise network’s online professional community, MemberWise Connect.
