Looking for great job candidates?

2022 has been a big year for MemberWise. We have seen the return of both our conferences as well as in person seminars and newly launched ‘tech insight days’, but this article focusses on how we have supported workforce development through our exclusive service, MemberWise Jobs.

In short, it has been busy! In part this driven by the continued growth of the network (over 8,000 membership professionals!) but largely it is reflective of a growing need to bolster teams with people that have sector experience and equally a passion for membership. Both of which our network boasts a huge amount of. Staffing challenges are being experienced across all sectors but whilst our sector remains relatively resilient it is not immune. We published more about this in a recent article here…

What does this mean for 2023?

This challenge is not going to disappear soon and current trends suggest that it will it continue for some time. Fortunately, MemberWise Jobs is here to support your recruitment needs and with January being an active month for job searches we recommend getting your posts live as soon as possible. Likewise, candidates should update their CVs and upload them to our site. Don’t let Q1 pass you by…let’s get your teams ready for a successful 2023.

So, what do the stats look like for 2022?

At the time of writing over 160 jobs were posted during the year, surpassing 2021 by more than 40 posts. Our community have explored these job posts, visiting our site over 21,000 times this year! And those are just browsing sessions – during this time our jobs have attracted over 45,000 views to date. The site has attracted over 13,000 users too, meaning our reach continues to extend.

Despite the recruitment challenges MemberWise Jobs has continued to attract interest from the sector and beyond, putting us at the forefront of recruitment of membership and association staff. We are pleased to continue providing exclusive recruitment services that enables the membership and association sector to retain high quality talent and experience. This is important because we are a growing group of professionals that “get membership” and sometimes internal career progression can be slow/frustrating. Our experience needs to be shared so that we can bring the best to the myriad of professional, vocational and general interests out there.

Shout outs to key partners over the year including Landscape Institute, Joint Industry Board, Immigration Law Practitioners Association and TOPRA. All of whom benefitted from our in depth recruitment support. We helped them all fill key positions by searching our community of professionals and screened for a shortlist that most closely fit their needs. Each of them now has an enthusiastic and highly capable new starter to bolster their activities. Our unique reach and unparalleled experience was harnessed to deliver successful a recruitment campaign in each case. This reduced the challenges, time and stress faced by many associations trying to find new staff.

MemberWise Jobs has a lot of work ahead to support our sector further and we are pleased to say that we will increase our resource. Jayne Stevens-Burt has become a familiar face on the MemberWise Jobs stand at our events this year and she will be joining the team formally from January 2023. This will only improve our services further.

So who has been using the service and what has attracted the most amount of interest this year?

We are pleased to say that we have advertised a wide variety of roles (at all levels) from membership-focussed to CPD/learning to board/governance. You name it, we have done it. The ones that attracted the most attention were:

  • Director of Membership and Community Building at the Conduit
  • Head of Membership at the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology
  • Head of Membership at Garden Organic
  • Standards and Regulation Board Members at Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors
  • Head of Learning and Development at the Chartered Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors

There were of course a lot more roles than this across all levels from administrator to specialist to mid-level roles. There were a swathe of vacancies across the sector in a variety of associations of varying sizes.

Most interesting fact?

Unsurprisingly the stand out stat is the most popular day for accessing the site was on the 5th January. Considering most people returned to work from the 3rd – 5th January it seemed to be “the back to work New Year blues” – again…because we saw the exact some stat in 2021! There were over 1,500 page views that day. We hope those of you who accessed the site either found your dream job earlier this year – or settled back into your existing one alright.

Once again we would like to thank all of you in our growing community of like-minded and passionate professionals. None of this could happen without you and we continue to serve you and the sector as much as we can. We are here to stay and look forward to another successful 2023 with you.
