The MemberWise Network is unique as being the only Network led by association and membership professionals. A core part of our team are the MemberWise Ambassadors; a group of practising membership professionals specialising in a specific area that we consider core and crucial to the world of membership such as engagement, recruitment and value.

In recent years, we have branched out into complementary areas such as governance, leadership, communications and PR, and people/volunteer management in order to show how the membership role requires broader business insight and experience.

We are now pleased to announce that we have appointed our first Ambassador for PR and Communications: Liz Lees, Director of Membership at Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply.

Let’s get to know Liz, who’ll be championing this crucial area of activity…

How long have you worked in Membership?

I have been at CIPS 19 years, in Comms and PR.  I moved to the Membership team in April of this year.

What does your role involve at CIPS?

My team and I are responsible for the complete member experience. From member recruitment and retention and the Member Value Proposition. We also look after the volunteer network of over 700 global volunteers, all events from flagship to branch events as well as the membership services team answering all membership and student enquiries.

How will you champion your ambassador subject area (PR and comms)?

I am passionate that how we communicate with members is at the heart of a strong professional body and will protect the concept of membership for the future.

What advice would you give to others also working in membership?

Have no pre-conceptions and don’t look back, look forward.

The MemberWise Team welcomes Liz on board as MemberWise Ambassador (PR and Communications).
